Author Biography

David Abulafia is the author of The Great Sea: A Human History of the Mediterranean, which was a bestseller in England when it was published in 2011. In 2018 a Chinese translation was also published. He is Professor Emeritus of Mediterranean History at Cambridge University, and he is a Fellow of the British Academy, the national academy for the humanities and social sciences in the United Kingdom. His next book, The Boundless Sea: A Human History of the Oceans will appear in October 2019, published by Penguin Books. A Chinese translation is already planned.
