“The restaurant offers a breathtaking view of the three gates – Qianmen, Tiananmen and Zhengyangmen. When I stepped onto the balcony terrace to enjoy the view, I wanted to relocate to Beijing instantly. To that spot, that balcony, mine. I would have to rent this space from the restaurant – I thought to myself – and then I would put my bed in the open air. Not that I’m necessarily keen on sharing my bedroom or privacy with other people, but that view, it would be stunning at night…”
